I'm slammed. I'm crazy.

In response to the usual, "How are you?" I often hear "I'm slammed." "I'm flat out". "I'm crazy".

Really? Is that now an acceptable response?

More often than not, we are busy, but thinking of all the things on our to-do list and the leftovers from yesterday's to-do list makes us feel overwhelmed.

There is another way. Write down all the things that need to be done. Then, divide the list into 3 groups: A. Essential to be done NOW. B. Needs to be done soon. C. Can wait at least a week. Then, put the B and C list away for the time being. Tackle only the A list. Look at it, prioritize, then do one thing at a time. Once the tasks on the A list are done, take a well-deserved break. Take a walk. Enjoy a snack. Reach out to a friend. If you're so inclined, take a nap. Congratulate yourself for completing your tasks for the day. Breathe.
